About UV Printer Ink
The diameter of the pigment particles in the UV curable ink is less than 1 micron, does not contain volatile organic solvents, has ultra-low viscosity and no pungent odor, which ensures that the ink will not clog the nozzle during the jet printing process. After six months of high-temperature storage testing, there is no pigment agglomeration. , subsidence, delamination and other abnormal phenomena. UV inks dries immediately after spraying, and can be matched with various types of nozzle UV flatbed inkjet printers on the market. UV ink is suitable for printing metal, glass, ceramics, PC, PVC, ABS and other materials. The cured ink layer has high hardness, good adhesion, scrub resistance, solvent resistance and high gloss. UV inks are available in C, M, Y, K, LC, LM, white, transparent, 8 colors, and light fastness level 7-8.
UV Cured Ink Structural Characteristics
In terms of structure, the biggest difference between UV ink and traditional solvent ink is that it contains very little or basically no volatile solvents (VOC). Traditional solvent-based inks contain at least 50% of volatile solvents, which is why UV inks are environmentally friendly inks. Secondly, UV ink is generally composed of 30-40% host resin, 20-30% active monomer, and a small amount of photoinitiator and similar leveling agents, defoaming agents and other additives. The main resin and reactive monomers are both reactive.
Ink structure | Solvent ink | UV ink |
Solvent | 60-70% | 0% |
Resin | 10-30% | \ |
Main resin | 0% | 40% |
monomer | 0% | 40% |
photoinitiator | 0% | 5-10% |
additive | 0% | 5% |
Solid content | 30-40% | 100% |
Pigment content | 15-20% | 5-10% |
Ordinary solvents rely on the way the resin and pigments adhere to the substrate after the solvent has evaporated, which determines its drying method. The performance of the ink after drying is constantly different. Generally speaking, UV ink has Higher weather resistance and solvent resistance; however, because it is a cross-linked ink layer, it is generally not as soft as solvent ink.
